WEAPONS OF MASS DISTRACTION

One hundred white cotton T-shirts, handpronted with political and social slogans hang from the ceiling on wire hangers. Underneath, one hundred anchovy tins display digital images of people wearing them and around the walls, at eye level- are their responses to these slogans.
Weapons of mass distraction has been inspired by the current political climate both here and overseas and is an attempt to draw atatention to the voice of the determined minorities who illegally express their fears and opinions through grafitti and political sloganism.
Investigating our basic rights of self-expression at a time when issues of censorship and sedition are of major concern to many, I jave taken political comment out of the street and off the wall, representing them on one of our favourite vehicles for comment- the white cotten T-shirt.
