Montsalvat grounds,

Eltham

John Muir ( 1830 - 1914) one of America's most famous conservationists said

Between every two pines is a doorway to a new world.

Listen up, an installation of suspended recycled metal fragments inspired by the variety of peeling eucalyptus bark I admired whille undertaking a residency at Montsalvat in 2015 represents a swag of amulets celebrating our precious nar=tural environment.

In such a beautiful place where ghosts of the artist community that brought it to life can still be felt by those who live, work or visit there, the inporatnce of valuing and preserving our environment seems obvious. Yet to some our planet is a playground and infinite provider regardless of how we trash it or ingnore its warnings.

Wikepedia describes an amulet as an object whose most inportant characteristic is the power described to it to protect its owner from danger or harm.

Those walking through the pines supporting this work are asked to contemplate an existence without natural green  spaces and all they entail. Our planet needs protection- protection from us.
